SVT’s Community Health Representative works with Senior Citizens of Seldovia to provide health outreach services.
Our CHR conducts home visits for elders to ensure their wellbeing. We also provide transportation to appointments, airport and if needed to store or post office. The CHR also does free blood pressure and blood sugar screening at the office is available.
One of the CHR’s duties are working as a fee agent which is assist with applications for Medicaid, foodstamps, senior benefits, state and tribal energy assistance. This also includes making travel arrangements for Medicaid patients. Another duty, is to open the exercise room daily for the community.
Debbie Cameron has served as the Tribe’s Community Health Representative since 1989. She is a volunteer EMT-III.
The SVT Exercise Room is located inside the Seldovia Conference Center and enjoys a near-panoramic view of Seldovia Bay. It is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 9:30am for everyone at the price of $1.00 per visit or $20.00 for 25 visits. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, it is open from 2:00 to 3:00pm for those ages 55+ at no cost. Also on Mondays and Wednesdays, it’s open from 7:00 to 9:00pm for 9th grade and up at no cost. The gym is equipped with treadmills, elliptical trainers, Pilates machines, weights, and more.
